Middle School Ministry Name Change!!!
Beginning this year, we are changing our Middle School (6th–8th grades) ministry name. We figured that middle school is known as a substantial season of change, so, hey, why not do some changing ourselves?
So, Buckhead Church’s Middle School Sunday environment (formerly known as Xtreme) is now known as . . . (Drum roll, please) . . .
. . . Transit!
So, why did we choose Transit? Here’s why. Most of us remember being in middle school and feeling a little giddy about what felt like a promotion in life, even though we felt lost in the shuffle of a life that was changing fast—new friends, busier schedules, more responsibilities, tougher classes, plenty of insecurities, and more confusing social decisions. Our trains had left the station, but we weren’t quite sure where we were headed! We felt like the name Transit captured those feelings of middle school students.
Transit is an environment to help middle school students find lots of trusted fellow “commuters” and adult leaders that truly understand and are excited about helping them ease their journeys between elementary and high school. It is full of friends that are ready to explore the answers to questions like: Where do I fit? Who do I want to become? How can I stand out? How can I blend in? Does God really notice me? Does he care?
Transit is still the same fun-filled place as Xtreme has always been . . . full of dynamic weekly worship, fun events, and small group relationship building. Our student ranks are swiftly growing and God is working in their lives in beautiful ways! We can’t wait to see what 2011 has in store.
