What Our K–5th Graders Are Up To In February…

0

It’s a great time to be an UpStreet kid at Buckhead Church! All through February, we’re learning about the Big Idea of PRAYER—having a conversation with God. We launched our Big Idea on February 5 in UpStreet (our Sunday environment for elementary-aged kids) and at KidStuf Live (our monthly interactive production for parents and kids).

It’s all part of our strategy to partner with parents and make it easy to talk about God’s big ideas at home. We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church. Be sure to check out our ParentStuf app for a simple, free, and easy way to talk about prayer with your kids!

That’s not all! On February 4, over 350 of our UpStreet kids went bowling with their small group leaders at an event we call KidVenture. KidVenture happens twice a year, and it’s designed to give UpStreet kids and their small group leaders a chance to connect relationally while doing something fun. It’s amazing how sharing an experience bonds people, breaks down barriers, and raises the quality of small group conversations on Sundays. It was a great event because our kids and leaders got to connect in a whole new way—as you can see from the pictures!

New Year . . . New Singles Series

1

Happy New Year!

Okay, maybe it’s not January 1 anymore, but it is a new month, a new year, and an exciting time for all things new. If you’re single, why not join us for our brand new environment created just for you—our Singles Series!

Three times a year, we’ll gather hundreds of singles from all five of our Atlanta-area campuses to connect, worship, and learn together. Each series will last three weeks, meeting Tuesday nights in the Buckhead Church Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

We’ll learn about things that are relevant to the single season of life (and yes, that means more than just dating). Seth Condrey will lead us in worship. We’ll connect with other singles from around the city, and we’ll tell you about new and exciting things we have in store for you in 2012. If you’re single, it’s an environment you don’t want to miss!

Mark your calendars now for our spring series, and invite all your single friends. No registration is required, so just show up. For more information, check out our new website at http://buckheadsingles.org.

Spring Singles Series Dates:

MarriedLife Welcomes Mark Connelly

2

Mark Connelly, pastor of Mission Community Church in Gilbert, Arizona, will join us at our upcoming MarriedLife event on Saturday, February 4. Mark and his wife, Kay, have been married for 28 years. Their past struggles and present challenges put Mark in a unique position to encourage us all.

If you are wondering why you ever got married, if you believe that perhaps you have fallen out of love with your spouse, or if you doubt you have anything in common anymore, you won’t want to miss this!

Join us at Buckhead Church for a night of laughter, great music, and dessert. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m., so bring your special Valentine to MarriedLife . . . Oh yeah!

Divorce Recovery: Unwrapping Christmas

0

Last year the Care Ministry introduced Unwrapping Christmas, and we are pleased to announce that it will be back again this year at North Point Community Church on December 1, at 7:00 p.m.

We’ve been offering our Oasis divorce recovery program for years, but we felt like we needed to do something extra for our divorced and separated attendees around the holidays. Our goals were to provide spiritual and emotional encouragement, to help attendees understand that there were other people in their community going through similar difficult times, and to provide practical advice to guide them as they tried to establish their “new normal” around the holidays.

Last year’s event was a huge success, but this year, Unwrapping Christmas is going to be even better! Nationally acclaimed speaker Bill Butterworth, author of New Life After Divorce, will share the inspirational story of his own divorce experience. We’ll also have Chinua Hawk onstage performing. Like last year, we’ll send out a daily email to attendees after the event for the entire month of December to uplift, encourage, assist, and challenge them. We had some incredible responses from these daily posts last year and expect the same this time around.

If you or anyone you know is divorced or separated—especially if this will be the first Christmas in this season of life, please go to www.northpoint.org/unwrappingchristmas to learn more. Tickets are $15 at the website above, and we encourage those who purchase tickets to invite another separated or divorced person to attend with them for free.

Worship…Middle School Style!

0

Whew! How long has it been since you’ve done a cartwheel, slid down an inflatable slide, launched water balloons, balanced with your group of friends on one hand, eaten a barrage of grab bag baby food, completed a water bucket challenge, raced to answer trivia questions, danced until you were dizzy, played kickball, wrestled an inflatable alligator in the water Olympics, eaten at the world’s longest dinner table, joined a massive wave, and had a flour bomb war—all in one day?

This nonstop fun set the stage for Frequency 2011. Last month, we loaded up buses and headed to Covington’s FFA Camp with hundreds of 7th and 8th-grade Transit students. We spent the weekend celebrating God’s love and learning how to live a worship-centered life.

Because worship doesn’t look the same in every individual’s life, we challenged students to discover what resonates within them to grow a deeper, more personal connection to God. Hundreds of students stepped nearer to an enduring faith of their own. It was an amazing weekend of laughter, prayer, fun, community—and worship!
