Six Months In

We began 2010 with a 21-day season of prayer and fasting. Our prayer was a simple one: “Only God.” We wanted God to do such amazing things through Buckhead Church that the only way to explain it would be to say, “Only God.”

Well, here we are. It’s July. Six months in, and here’s what God has done through you:

• On Saturday, April 17, over three years of community service work was given to our city through our “do.justice” event.
• Over 800 new volunteers joined our strategic service teams.

• Over 500 of you have served on a globalX trip to 17 different countries.

• The people of Nashville were given over $25,000 in gift cards for flood relief.

• And then there are the stories. We have heard dozens of stories in just these six months that are truly reflections of our “Only God” prayer. We will be sharing some of these stories with you on Sundays in the weeks ahead.

As great as these six months have been though, I believe it is just a glimpse of what we’ll see in the remaining half of the year. To prepare us for the next six months, I am providing five tangible questions for each of us to consider. I believe if we can answer yes to these questions, we will be obedient in doing our part in the mission God has given us.

1. Are you praying for, investing in, and inviting someone to church who doesn’t know Jesus?
2. Are you in a small group?
3. Are you involved in strategic service?
4. Are you a percentage giver?
5. Are you praying for our church?

God has not blessed Buckhead Church with success. God has blessed us with potential. I believe these five questions will not only allow us to take greater strides toward our potential, I believe it is an opportunity for us to see God do even greater things in the remaining months of 2010.
