Looking Back on Sunday
Sunday will rank as one of my all-time favorite days at Buckhead Church. Here are a few reasons why:
- At the conclusion of Andy’s message he asked those who had been running from God to come forward, kneel and pray. Seeing dozens and dozens of people come forward was something I will never forget.
- Standing up front and praying over those who came forward was an honor and privilege I don’t take lightly.
- Announcing the potential location of our fourth campus was another reminder of why I love North Point Ministries. It would be really easy to coast and play it safe. Then again, that would mean thousands of people might not meet their Savior. So, let’s keep moving.
- An email I received late last night from a new friend made my year. (And it’s only March!) He’s been attending Buckhead for ten weeks and has lots of great questions about God. He’s joined a Starting Point group and is beginning his journey. The amazing detail of his email is that he was one of the ones who came forward yesterday. This is a huge step for him.
- I love talking to people on Sundays and yesterday was no exception. Great conversations. Please don’t hesitate to find me on Sundays. I’m usually down front or out at the Information Center.
- KidStuf and UpStreet launched their Big Idea of the month. Honesty.

Finally, on a personal note, yesterday was my birthday. I say that to say thanks for the cards, notes, twitters and well wishes. This church means so much to my family and me. Thank you for being a church that encourages and replenishes me.
Okay, that’s what I’ll remember from yesterday. How about you?
Grateful,
Jeff

The two things I will remember are:
1. You can run from God, but you cannot out run God.
2. God is generous with His Grace, and thorough with His dicipline…not to pay us back, but to bring us back

Sunday was a memorable day for me, as well. It was first of all a reminder of the dramatic time in my life when I finally surrendered my will to His will after nearly 2 years of running. It was also a great reminder to keep on running in the RIGHT direction, toward Christ, Who is not only the Author, but also the Finisher of my faith. Finally, it was so exciting as I prayed for those who needed to respond, to see the aisles flooded with people who were deciding to stop running. It moved me very deeply, and I hope that this will be the start of an incredible journey for so many who came.

Sunday was awesome! It was crazy how God orchestrated my entire weekend so that I was ready to hear from Him Sunday night. It has been a long time since I felt such peace in His presence

Sunday just shows how in need we all are of a savior. But once Christ grabs our attention, stops us from running, and brings us back into his arms, what then? On a practical level how do we stay secure in the hope we know we have? How do we insure that when the tide of doubt comes (and it will given the attacks on Christianity that are out there) we remain grounded in what we believe?
I bring this up in the context of Starting Point. I know this wonderul program exists for those who are searching, who are coming back to church etc. However, how do we at BC equip ourselves to internally know why we believe what we do. In addition, how do we equip ourselves to explain why we believe what we do to non-believers in a kind, loving but intelligent way?

On top of the message and the response, the thing I will most remember from Sunday is one of the 6th grade boys in my small group say, “You mean if Adam and Eve hadn’t sinned, we would be perfect? I’m not real happy with them” I love the opportunity BC provides me to have real conversations about life and faith with middle schoolers.
