UpStreet: Backwards, Upside Down & All Mixed Up!!
Did you see anyone dressed a little wacky around Buckhead Church last Sunday? Well, those were UpStreet’s incredible leaders all decked out ready to connect with kids and make church FUN!! You see, we believe that kids should never be bored with God and we work hard on UpStreet to make sure our kids are not just sitting in rows hearing Bible stories, but sitting in circles with a leader talking about how to apply the truth they are learning to what is going on in their lives as Kindergarten through 5th Graders. To help cultivate these small group relationships, two times a year we do something called KidVenture. In the fall we take a Sunday morning and make it completely different with the sole purpose of helping the kids and leaders get to know each other better.
This years theme was UpStreet: Backwards, Upside Down, and All Mixed Up! The leaders and kids came in their “wacky wear” and participated in lots of fun activities with their small group. They came up with wacky names, did their hair crazy, had a hula hoop contest, wrapped their small group leaders up in toilet paper, and much more.

Over 650 kids got to experience the wackiness and connect with a leader who is committed to being there with them each week to guide them to put their faith in Jesus and to teach them who God is and how He wants them to live. (That’s our mission on UpStreet!) A HUGE thanks for our incredible UpStreet volunteers who embraced their inner child and got decked out in wacky wear to make this day so successful. Also, many thanks to UpStreet volunteer Becca Price who was gracious enough to take these wonderful pictures for us.

I lead a group of 1st graders and I can’t even begin to explain how much fun the kids had! That’s including us older kids! ;-) We had an awesome time getting to know each other better and seeing a sillier, crazier side than our usual Sunday.
Thanks to the UpStreet Staff for making the halls look so fun & wild… who would have thought there’d be confetti and fundip at church?!
