Flood Update
On Sunday, we will be giving everyone an update on how we can help with relief efforts for flood victims. Megan Linger, who leads the Intersect Project here at Buckhead Church, has been working with our community partners to determine our most strategic move. In talking with our Intersect partners, Megan has identified three ways for all of us to help.
1. Furniture. One of our partners is Furniture Bank. It’s an amazing organization that you can read about here: http://www.furniturebankatlanta.org/ One of the primary needs they are helping with is providing mattresses. Many people lost their mattresses due to the flood. With this in mind, we will be collecting a cash offering over the next couple of Sundays in hopes of purchasing mattresses. Our hope is to provide all the mattresses that Furniture Bank needs.
2. Clothing. Another Intersect partner is Buckhead Christian Ministries (BCM). They do an incredible job aiding the working poor and the homeless. One way they are assisting flood victims is to provide them with clothing. Men’s, women’s and children’s clothing are accepted. http://www.buckheadchristianministry.org/
3. Samaritan’s Purse. We have partnered with Samaritan’s Purse before. They do incredible work. They are currently setting up two relief centers and need both volunteers and donations. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/
If each of us in our small groups gave money to Furniture Bank and fulfilled one service opportunity, it would be a major step forward for those in need.
Thanks! See you Sunday.
Jeff
