Storytellers
“Connect their story to God’s story with your story.”
That’s what I hope we do this year at Buckhead Church.
I hope we connect the stories of your friends and mine to the story of Jesus.
I hope we connect their stories to God’s story with our stories — stories of how God’s grace, love and power is shining through in our offices, neighborhoods, tennis leagues……or wherever we go.
This is my one request for us as a church in 2009.
To that end, we asked you on Sunday to write down the name of one person that you would be praying for this year in hopes that through your friendship they would come to know Christ. We called it, “Connect their story to God’s story with your story.”
This photo includes the cards that were turned in from the 11 am service. Each card represents one person.
A person you will be praying for and a person Jesus died for. As a church, we want to partner with you to create environments where you can bring your friends with the hope that their story can connect with the story of their Savior.
Imagine what could happen if each person represented in these cards made a decision to follow Christ this year. Imagine.
In some ways, our aim is to simply be storytellers this year, telling the story with our lives of who Jesus is and what He means to us. And in doing so, perhaps God will use our story to connect their story with His.
Grateful,
Jeff

I miss Buckhead so much (live in Dallas now) and am very excited about the theme you have introduced this year. I think it is a clear picture of how we are to act as a part of Christ’s body, and hope that it mobilizes Buckhead’s attenders to invite others to experience his grace in downtown Atlanta.
Keep up the hard work, and best of luck in reaching the hundreds of thousands in downtown.

Jeff,
Sunday was fantastic and very challenging. Its funny how God works through you and others. I have been praying for a friend of mine to come to Church with us for a long time and your challenge reminded me that I just needed to ask, I called him today and he and his family are coming on Sunday! So, one of the cards that were submitted on Sunday will turn into two people sitting in the service hearing Gods Word and one little girl being loved on in Waumba Land. Thanks for the encouragement!
