Praying for the President

Andy prays for the President.

He asks us to pray for the President.

And today, Andy prayed for the President in front of the President.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/v/3bWSUEKIHpQ 425 350]

Many of you didn’t get to see this today as our senior pastor Andy Stanley prayed for President Obama at the National Prayer Service in Washington, DC.  You can watch here, and post a comment telling Andy what a great job he did.

Thanks,

Jeff

it always feels strange complimenting someone on a prayer, but all of us who are part of the Kingdom thank you for a job well done.

I seriously am SO proud of Andy!!! What an incredible opportunity to be a part of something so special and important.

It felt like home as Andy prayed for Obama and MIchelle to have “wisdom and strength to know and to do His will”… It’s what he encourages in all of us weekly… the wisdom to know what to do, and the courage to do it!

I loved watching him and I’m just so super proud that he was a part of it!!

Andy. Great Job with the prayer. So proud to have a pastor who prays for our president to actually pray for our president – in front of our president.

I’m also really glad you didn’t try to go all “Freestyle” like Judge Roberts and screw things up!

    Andy,

Thank you for your leadership and more specifically for how you have stepped up and lead by example in praying for and encouraging your church to pray for our president.

As a strategic partner in Columbia, SC it emboldens me to lead well even when others might interpret our position in a less than favorable way. I have encouraged several people with the words you delivered in staff meeting last week.

“Andy prays for the President, Andy encourages his staff and church to pray for the President, and Andy has an opportunity to pray for the President in person.”

Thank you for leading the nation in prayer, and thank you for leading your church by example.

Thanks for answering the call to lead us in prayer for the new President. It was so great to get to watch you on TV (I guess the internet is more accurate) and know that you were leading many of the most powerful people in politics in prayer and affirming that we are all here for, and by, our Lord.

    Andy,
As a former attendee, employee and member of North Point I want to thank you for being real. There are many of us who know that the man that stood on that platform today is the same man that his children know at home. Thank you for being an authentic man, a powerful leader and a great father. I was so proud today to see you continue to lead us by example. Thank you for challenging me once again.

Thank you for being such a humble servant and example to all of us who follow your lead. What a blessing you were to all who were able to hear your prayer.
My prayer is that many of those who happened to see this service and hear you speak (including the President and his staff), now reach out and find you and your messages to fill their lives with truth.

Awesome Prayer! That is truly incredible…from Letters To The President to Praying With The President. I’m truly hope he listens to the idea of seeking God’s will. The Balanced series has really been driving that point home. God has selected Obama for a reason and we should use this prayer as a model when we pray for our leaders from the city level on up to President.

(And who knew that last Sunday in the “secret” Buckhead church elevator, I would be introducing myself & my kids to the man who would be introducing himself to the most powerful man in the world? Who needs 6 degrees to get connected?)

    Andy –
Your transparent and authentic leadership is incredible. You practice what you preach and that is a powerful testimony to the world around you. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to someday get to Atlanta and thank you in person for the impact you’ve had on my life but in the mean time, thanks. You will never know the depth of impact that NP and you have had on my life despite having never been to your church.

Awesome, great job. Down here in Cape Town South Africa we are confident of great things by God for this Continent, this country – even this city. In no small part thru President Obama and our partnership with NPCC.
So I to am honoured to know that NPCC was ‘represented’ so to speak by Andy.

I had no idea until I read an article in the Washington Post that said Andy’s name. I am so proud of Andy. I was sad to leave Atlanta ONLY because I would miss NPCC. This really lifted my spirit. Thank you, Andy, for walking the talk and being an example for all. Hope you left the Pres some if your leadership books! PS – can’t wait for the Denver church to start!!!

I have heard of Andy wearing suits and ties, but had never actually seen the phenomenon. Thanks, President Obama, for giving me the chance to see one of my favourite authors and speakers rock a suit.

I watched the National Prayer Service from the very beginning, I thought it was such a beautiful service. I had to be somewhere by 12:30, so I ran in to get ready quickly and when I came back, there was Andy standing on the stage and the next person was speaking! The only 10 minutes of the entire service that I missed was Andy praying!! I was so bummed, but thank goodness for You Tube where I can watch it as many times as I wish.
Andy, thank you for standing up and praying to our Savior Jesus, boldly saying His beautiful name and being the authentic you that you are. I know you don’t seek to be a rock star, but you are one!!
We love you and thank you for your awesome leadership.

Andy, there was a little bet on if you would say “Jesus Christ” or not on my group here watching. Some said you would, others said you wouldn’t. So glad you did. I know that there was probably much more going on in your heart than we could even imagine. I know the prayer was much longer. great job! thankful to you, daniele.

    Andy’

Congratulations on an excellent job done during an amazing opportunity. This opportunity historically, has not been granted to many, but a selected few.

“What do you do when you discover that you are the most powerful person in the room, You look for ways to leverage that power for the sake of the other people.” Great quote Andy.

Keep up the great work, thank you
