Host Team Christmas

Instead of having a traditional Christmas party this year, Host Team decided to partner with the Be Rich Initiative to assist others through the Buckhead Christian Ministry (BCM).

BCM has a Transitional Housing program to help homeless families with housing as well as counseling, case management, financial and life skills education, and other supportive services. BCM places homeless families in apartment homes for 12 to 24 months, providing a safe and secure environment in which they can work towards independence. While in the program, participants attend BCM’s Money Management Program and meet weekly with professional social workers to achieve personal and family goals.

This weekend our Host Teams got together and created transitional housing kits for these families. We raised $1,500.00 and were able to make 4 full kits and 1 partial kit. A full kit contains 40 + items ranging from a mop and broom to sheets and towels.

In addition to being able to provide for BCM’s program we were also able to provide one kit to a formerly homeless couple who recently moved into permanent housing. Byron and Robyn Brookhart are Buckhead Church attenders that we met just over a year ago. They joined us on Saturday and were able to take home three boxes of items for their new home!
