Giving Up Christmas
This past Saturday 1,300 Singles from all three campuses took part in Giving Up Christmas; our singles christmas event where we promised the unexpected- and left many of the details of the event up to everyone’s imagination!
Despite rumors of swing dancing, speed dating, and outdoor building projects, we are pretty hopeful that no one left disappointed. Everyone who attended took part in a Christmas trivia competition with stage rounds of caroling karaoke and acting out the Twelve Days of Christmas. It was nothing short of quality entertainment! With every competition comes a prize at the end and our competition was no different. All those who came paid $5 for the event. All of this money (and more) was given back to the individuals – now that is our kind of prize! The catch- the money that each person won at the end of the game was to be given away to someone else in need. In all, 1,300 singles were given $12,000 to spend on someone else in any way they chose. Each individual was challenged to come up with something creative to use their money on such as gifts for children at a hospital, providing a meal to a homeless person, helping a friend in need who may have just lost their job, and so on! Knowing that each person was walking away with anywhere from $5 to $25, we were encouraged by the possibilities for our communities to be impacted in such an amazing way this Christmas!
