Homeless Shelter Kit Drive

Did you brave the crowds for Black Friday shopping?  Or do you wait a few days before jumping into the hustle and bustle of yuletide spending?  Whatever your shopping preference, we’ve got a shopping need for which we’d love your help!  

As part of our Be Rich:: Do More, Give More campaign, we scheduled a donation drive to support each of our nonprofit partners. For Buckhead Christian Ministry, we collected 7 tons of food, and we just “wrapped up”  a toy drive for the students at Woodson Elementary. It’s been great to see your generosity so far!

Now, it’s time for a drive to benefit our third Be Rich partner, the Atlanta Union Mission (AUM).  We’re collecting “shelter starter kits” to give to people as they enter one of AUM’s homeless shelters. To make things easier for you, we’ve partnered with Tower Place Bed Bath & Beyond across from the church. An AUM employee pre-selected specific items for the shelter starter kits, which include twin sheets (including pillowcase), a cotton blanket, a towel, and a washcloth. The kits cost $37.96 plus tax. You can even use one of the coupons Bed Bath & Beyond sends you in the mail when making your purchase!

So, drop by the Tower Place Bed Bath & Beyond when you’re out on this week, ask for a “Buckhead Church shelter starter kit,” and bring it to church with you.  We’ll have volunteers ready and waiting in the lobbies to collect the kits for the next 2 Sundays.
