A Thanksgiving Letter to Buckhead Church
Dear Buckhead Church,
Thank you.
Thank you for not only understanding the vision God has given us but, more importantly, living the vision.
Thank you for understanding that it’s not about what the church can do for us but rather what the church can do through us.
Thank you for challenging and trusting us with difficult decisions like closing 7/22 and changing KidStuf.
Thank you for being generous in good economic times and difficult economic times.
Thank you for this comment I heard two weeks ago: “The volunteers at Buckhead Church are so friendly, but not in a cheesy, uncomfortable kind of way. They seem to be sincerely glad my family and I are here.”
Thank you for being courageous enough to invite your friends to Buckhead. Without that, we just become a church of insiders.
Thank you for being a people of ‘confident humility.’ Humble knowing that without God our efforts are in vain. Yet, confident knowing that with God anything is possible.
Thank you for being more excited about our future than you are about our past. And for remembering we are nowhere near our potential as a church.
Thank you for letting this former marketing guy with no church credentials serve here. I still wonder why you do that.
And finally, thank you for your passionate obedience to Jesus’ command in Matthew 28: 18 – 20.
For this and so many other reasons, I will always be eternally grateful.
Happy Thanksgiving Buckhead Church.
Jeff

After the Makeover
I often get credit for a lot of things I have a very small part in – largely because we have such a great singles staff and an incredible group of volunteers. The teacher’s lounge makeover at Woodson Elementary is just one example. The following was written by our Singles Coordinator Jamie Waddy.
I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for the TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition…it pulls me in every time. I am amazed to see the complete transformations that take place in each of the homes, and I am always overwhelmed at the outpouring of love and support from the surrounding community for the family in need. This weekend I had the honor and privilege of participating in our own extreme makeover…Buckhead Church style!
Before: After:
Bright and early on Saturday morning the BC Singles staff joined forces with some of our awesome Fusion leaders and coaches to surprise a very deserving group of teachers with a special treat – an extreme makeover of the Woodson Elementary Teacher’s Lounge! Just a few short weeks ago, as our team visited the school, we realized that there was a great need. The wonderful teachers at Woodson, who have devoted their lives to helping shape the minds of our future leaders, had no space to call their own; no place that they could retreat to, and no area to effectively hold training sessions. So with a small budget, limited resources and a short amount of time, we set out on a mission: to create a great environment for these hard-working teachers.
As the word began to spread about what we were trying to accomplish, we received overwhelming support from the Buckhead Church community! People began to donate money, furniture, their time and professional services…and before we knew it, we had a full on makeover in the works! Christmas came a little early for the teachers at Woodson this year…on Monday morning we were honored to be able to present them with their brand new room! It was so fun to see the surprised look on their faces and hear them get excited about having a place of their own!
All I can say is move over Ty Pennington, there’s a new team in town…our AWESOME Fusion leaders!!

A special thanks goes out to our designer, Carrie Allen, to our Fusion leaders and coaches, and to all who contributed their time, talents and funds to this project! Thanks to Jamie and Kerri Taylor who did an incredible job in leading us in this project and to the “Be Rich: do more. give more.” campaign and Megan Linger for continuing to push us as a church to serve people in our community.

Today is…
a National Day of Prayer designated by the American Mother’s Inc. As we start this week of Thanksgiving, we hope you will take time on this special day to pray for our country and those who are in need, as well as all that you are thankful for.
