Be an Encourager. Right Now.

Meet Viola Blackshear.

photo.jpg

She’s the principal of Woodson Elementary, the school we’ve adopted as an Intersect partner.

Friday, her students will receive their brand new shoes that you purchased for them.
Despite some difficult circumstances, Ms. Blackshear is constantly encouraging her students in amazing ways to become upstanding, college and university graduates.  “You do your best and we’ll do the rest,” is her constant charge to the students.

She’s such an encourager that I started to wonder if anyone is encouraging Ms. Blackshear? Sometimes, those that encourage others rarely get encouraged themselves.  So, that’s where you come in.

Today, I would like to ask you to encourage Ms. Blackshear by leaving a comment on the blog. You can encourage her that she is doing a great work and that we stand by her as a church.   We will print the replies out and give them to her as encouragement on Friday.

In doing so, you’ll be living out 1 Thessalonians 5:11: “Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.”

Thanks!

Jeff

    Ms. Blackshear,
I do not attend BC because I don’t live in Atlanta, but I am praying for you and your school. I have been inspired by the work you do with your students and the unique way you encourage them. So often we are too busy to be bothered with investing in young people and you are a shining example of how we should all pour ourselves into these precious souls.
    Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the selfless position that you have as a leader to our children. I am convinced that the life lessons they learn in school are ones they will take with them throughout adulthood and on. You are such a key person in their lives, and I thank you for taking that responsibility in the best way. Thank you for loving our children and for encouraging them on.

    Ms. Blackshear,
Thank you for your persistence and hard work that you do for your students. You obviously don’t do it to get credit or recognition – but I want you to know that we appreciate what you are doing and want to recognize you for it. Our father in heaven surely recognizes each small kind word or deed you perform for your students. Thank you for giving of yourself to improve the lives of others.

    Ms. Blackshear,

    A quote…

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela

Thank you for being a great “general” for the kids at Woodson and for amassing a great power in the education of them.

Truly, they will change the world…and you will have helped set them in motion.

    Ms. Blackshear,

You must have days or weeks where you feel like no one cares and just feel discouraged. You are giving hope to the hopeless and help to the helpless. You are showing love and changing the course of young people’s lives. You and your staff are the heroes not the latest star on TV. These children will look back many years later with thankful hearts on this time of love and learning.

    God loves you,

    Tommy

Your picture speaks volumes. A warm smile & kind face to greet the children, the future of our city — grounded by a conviction to help “their best” to be good enough. What incredible hope you are instilling in a culture which continues to attempt to rob our youth of it. Frederick Buechner once said, “In his holy flirtation with the world, God occasionally drops a pocket handkerchief. These handkerchiefs are called saints.” Thank you for allowing us to witness what one of these handkerchiefs looks like, Ms. Blackshear.
    You are loved and appreciated!

    Ms. Blackshear,

Thank you for investing in the lives of these children who are part of the future. Please tell your teachers and staff that we are praying for them as well. All of you are part of a profession that sees little reward compared to the time and effort invested.

    Sincerely,
    Jeff

    Ms. Blackshear,

It’s people like you that make a difference in the lives of others. The seeds that you are planting now in your students will help shape who they are and what they become. As they grow older and reflect on their lives, they will see that there is a god just through the work you do on a daily basis to show them you care and believe in them.

You are an inspiration to many. Keep up the good work and we look forward to supporting your effors in the future.

    Warmly,
    Gina
