FAQs Part 2

(Once a week on the blog we will answer one of the frequently asked questions we recently received. Today, Amber answers the following question from Mark.)
Not sure if this is a “Buckhead Church Question”, but more of a “How do you do it” kinda question. All the staff at BC including you seem to LOVE their job and everyone they work with. There is a obvious passion for your jobs that makes many of us jealous. Even though we also love what you do.
Any ideas on how we can reproduce this in our normal, day to day, outside of the church jobs. How we can change our attitudes as well as our teams? How can we help to stir the passion of our jobs? Sometimes as we deal with issues at work, we put God on the backburner. Any thoughts on how in our politically correct working environments, we can remember to keep the faith?

Hi Mark,

Not sure I can answer your question completely, but since I’ve been on staff at Buckhead Church for four-plus years, I’d love to tell you a little about why so many of us love what we do.

The culture on staff at BC is a lot like a family. We work hard. We play hard. Sometimes we disagree, sometimes we see things differently, but we always come back together around a single purpose. You’ve heard it said on Sundays: our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. The staff gathers around that statement. It’s who we are as much as it is what we do. So yes, we are passionate about what we do, and we love our jobs and each other because our mission applies to us too.

And as for how you might be able to have that same passion? I think it stems from realizing our ultimate purpose in life and seeing our day-to-day jobs as yet another opportunity to live out that purpose: love God and love others. Andy did a great series last year called On Location that talks about how to take your faith with you wherever you go.  It’s filled with great, applicable information and inspiration. You can check it out on-line or at :connections.

Thanks for your question!

Amber Blossom
