Calling All Actors
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at acting? Do you currently act as a professional or have professional training as an actor? Well, we have an awesome opportunity for you to serve at Buckhead Church.
KidStuf Production is looking for an ensemble cast to perform for its 2008-2009 season. KidStuf is a high energy, Nickelodeon-style production for kids grades K-5 AND their parents (yes, an adult audience is there, too). We are holding auditions Monday, June 16, 2008 starting at 3:00pm.
Audition requirements are: One 60-90 second comedic monologue, 16 bars of music A cappella, and be prepared for cold readings as well. We are looking for actors with good improv skills, strong comedic timing, are quick studies, and who thrive in an ensemble.
To register for auditions, go to: www.kidstuf.com. Actors must be eighteen years or older. Hope to see you there!
Your Small Group Is The Church
Along the lines of Billy Phenix’s talk today.
He asked a question…
If Jesus walked up to you, and asked how your church is doing…
What would you say?
And remember, He is not talking about just our Sunday experiences.
How would you tell him your small group is impacting your community and relationships?
June 8, 2008 – Buckhead Church Bulletin
Attention Men of Buckhead Church!
When you think back to your middle school years, do you remember looking up to someone? Does a face come to mind of someone who took the time to hang out with you, play video games, talk, watch sports, and who led you to know Christ in a more real way? Well, we need this type of person in our middle school ministry. We are looking for small group leaders who will hang out with middle school students, share in their lives, and help lead them into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. If you are interested, please contact Kelly at kelly.clements@buckheadchurch.org.

We’ll be reading three books together this summer and hearing from each of the authors at our monthly meetings. Here is a sneak peek at the summer lineup: June 24, The Shack with author William P. Young; July 22, The Organic God with author Margaret Feinberg; August 19, They Like Jesus But Not The Church with author Dan Kimball. For more information, be sure to check out 722.org.

“Who they are” is selfless and compassionate!
I received an email from Kerri Taylor (Buckhead Church Fusion Director) today about an email she received from one of our Fusion leaders and it was WAY TOO GOOD not to share! These single adults are reshaping the “Christian” Identity!
Joel,
Just wanted to email you about some people in our Buckhead Fusion gatherings who “get it.” I wish I could take credit for this one but cannot. These two Fusion gatherings had so much fun at do.Justice that they decided to organize a combined service project on their own. This is actually one of the projects we weren’t able to accomplish at do.justice because of the weather. I am so excited to see how our leaders have caught the vision of “doing justice” and aren’t waiting for us to take action. Way to go team!
From the words of one of the leaders:
“Several Buckhead Church Fusion groups coordinated with the essential2life organization (http://www.e2lonline.com/) for a service project on Saturday May 31st at the Bowman Homes (projects) where 1200 kids under the age of 18 live. The focus was spending time with the children: playing with them and showing them that people care about them. NOTE: Although I took most of these photos, some were taken by the children themselves. They were very interested in the camera, took turns ‘borrowing’”

Wow! I am proud to identify myself with Buckhead Church. If you haven’t yet, share your list with us. We’re a lot smarter collectively than we are individually!

Who are you becoming?
This past Sunday we challenged you to prioritize “who you are” over “what you do” or “who you know” by setting aside your “to do” list for a season and to begin making a “to be” list. We want to know what some of you are putting on your personal identity list. We were thinking it might help us all to share with the whole community the Christ-like characteristics we have come up with. The goal is not to have an exhaustive list, but to focus on the things that God is revealing to you about the character of His Son. As promised I have included my list below along with a reminder of the 4 questions that will help you get started if you haven’t yet begun.
A suggested method for prioritizing your personal character:
1. Make a list of values – ones that describe who you want to become.
2. Attach verses from the Bible – that support these Christ-like characteristics.
3. Take personal inventory – to figure out how well you are doing and where you need to focus.
4. Use your list to measure success – falling short should feel like failure, but use it as motivation.
My list:
1. Generous – Proverbs 11:25
2. Honest – John 3:19-21
3. Dependable – Matthew 5:37
4. Compassionate – Colossians 3:12
5. Grateful – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
6. Self-sacrificing – Philippians 2:1-8
