Jeff,
Stumbled across your website via Tony Morgan’s website (and I found his name through another blogroll). I, too, am an avid read and the director of a private Christian school, so I am always trying to “stay current” via good books, but I prefer to purchase books that are recommended by reliable sources–not just the New York Times Book Reviews. I would love to see your 2007 book list and takeaways, if your willing to share.

thanks for the list jeff… how can i see your ’07 list? i do the exact same thing and have a whole file folder for my book takeaways. i record them all in separate word docs. thanks for sharing.

Hey Jeff,
I can’t say that I am much of a reader myself so when I saw your list I was amazed that you read that many books in just one year. It would be a great accomplishment for me to finish that many books in my lifetime! Your list made me think that I need to start reading more and stop watching tv, reading magazines, and surfing the web. Being a little analytical and a little bored at work I have broken down a few stats on your list, which will hopefully help me to start reading a little more this year.
Total number of pages – 14,084
40 pages per day every day of the year
271 pages per week for 52 weeks
1174 pages per month
335 average number of pages in each of the books on the list
3.5 books per month
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

One of my mentors, Regi Campbell, taught me the importance of “netting out” each book I read so that I can refer to it later. I’d love to see your 2007 list and your learnings document to add it to my system.

Be careful reading “Same Kind of Different as Me”. You might not be able to put it down until it is finished and then realize that it is 6am and you have read through the night. Great book.

Thanks Emily. I just finished 4:8 over the holidays. A great book to begin the new year. I’m reading “Getting Things Done” by David Allen now. Another good one to start the year.
