This made me mad.
Okay, so something made me mad after the 6 pm service last night. What could it possibly be? Check back on tomorrow’s blog and I’ll let you know.
In the meantime, have a great Monday.

Just Ask
We’ve heard so many great stories about you bringing friends to Part 1 of It’s Personal. I know I sound like a broken record but this coming Sunday is another perfect day to do that again.. The story you’re going to hear before Andy’s message is amazing. Your friends who don’t know Jesus need to hear it. Give them a call. Just ask.
In the meantime, here’s one of the stories I’ve heard from this past Sunday. Enjoy! And as always, thanks so much for all you do.
“During the hard hat tour I took last year, you had encouraged us to write names on the columns near the stage. I am very excited to share that one of those people, my next door neighbor, came with me to the 11 o’clock service yesterday. It was exactly what he needed to hear and he wants to come back for the rest of the series. The interesting part is that it took almost no effort on my part besides letting him know that I attend Buckhead Church and I always share some baked goods with him and other neighbors from time to time. He actually asked if he could come to church with me some time. I ran into him last week and invited him to come with me.”
Just Ask. It works.

Jennifer Davidson
Yesterday, we mourned the passing of Jennifer Davidson. Jennifer and her husband John and their three children, Mitchell, Oliver and Harper have been a part of our Buckhead Church community for quite a while now. She was a devoted mom, wife, and friend to so many. Jennifer worked at Cartoon Network as Senior Vice President and was known for her zeal and passion for life.

You can read her obituary at:

Yesterday, as I listened to the incredible tributes about her I was once again reminded of the power of being intentional about life. The Scriptures are clear, “Don’t take a single day for granted.” It’s clear Jennifer never did. And as a result, so many are better off because of her intentionality.
If we’re not careful, we can fall prey to assuming life will constantly flow our way. For example, we make weekends plans assuming there will be a weekend. We tell friends, “Let’s do lunch sometime,” but do we ever really call? How many of us rarely call our parents? Are we living intentionally? Think about it and ask yourself the question, “How can I live intentionally TODAY?”
Who will you call?
What will you do?

FAMILY MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT: TERRANCE SHELTON

Every once in a while, we like to introduce you to someone that God is using in incredible ways among our families here at Buckhead Church. Today, I’d like to introduce you to Terrance Shelton, the always-energetic vocalist on our KidStuf stage each Sunday. Anyone that has attended KidStuf surely knows that Terrance has been a fixture in KidStuf for the last three seasons and is a cornerstone of all the great music that flies off that stage.
Terrance grew up in Gainesville, GA (just up the road), and moved to Atlanta in 1987. Part of what I love about Terrance is the massive amount of talent and creativity that God has gifted him with. He’s also a really busy guy. In addition to being a clothing buyer, assistant manager of a cool vintage clothing store in Little Five Points, and a fashion stylist for photography shoots and shows, he is a professional background vocalist (having sung on two triple-platinum selling albums) and a published writer.
I tell you all that to say that Terrance is a wildly-talented guy with a very busy schedule, and in spite of all that, he faithfully shows up at the crack of dawn each Sunday to organize, rehearse, and lead our KidStuf music team. He is a living, breathing example of God-given talent being returned to God . . . in ministry and service. To know Terrance is to know a man whose heart beats for seeing children and families “get” the fact that we sing to a God that loves us immensely and is worthy of our praise.
I asked Terrance what his favorite thing about leading music at KidStuf is. He said:
“Children become saturated by so many images in the media that sometimes role models are hard to distinguish. I genuinely appreciate the effort taken to assure that KidStuf is on par with any “professional” secular programming that they might see. Kids need to be shown the example that you can act, sing, dance—whatever—and still love God with the assurance that these things are not contradictions to being loved by Him.”
It is in that statement that you can find Terrance’s heart for quality, creativity, and influence and a determination to lead children and parents in what it means to truly and passionately worship. So, to Terrance and the hundreds of other people that are putting their time, energy, and talent on the altar for God to use each Sunday, “Thank you!” from all the children, families, and students that might never have the opportunity to show appreciation to you in person.
We are most blessed to serve beside you . . .

Our very own Scott Rigsby was featured on NBC’s Ironman Triathlon coverage this past Saturday. As you may know, Scott is one of our incredible UpStreet volunteers at Buckhead Church. His story is an amazing one of inspiration and blessing. Scott was the first-ever double amputee to complete the Hawaii Ironman. You can read his story at www.scottrigsby.com. In the meantime, please join me in congratulating Scott on an amazing accomplishment.
