Yesterday we closed out the Illusions series by looking at a rather convicting story that Jesus told Simon the Pharisee. I’m just curious. What did the Lord teach you through this story? How did He speak to your heart yesterday?
Thanks for being there.

Hey Jeff,
Your message had my wife and I talking for hours after the service yesterday. I’ve only been a Christian for 6 years, and my wife grew up in a Christian family, so you could imagine the kind of conversations it generated for us. Both of us were massively convicted of playing the “comparison game” in our lives and we’ve agreed to hold each other accountable to avoiding that attractive trap. Really powerful message man. I’m excited to have Andy back on video next week but I’ll miss having you teach live.
P.S. Impeccable timing on that “fake Jeff/real Jeff” sketch by the way! Hilarious!
Jeff, the last two Sundays have been amazing! To see last week so many people putting their pride to the side and allowing God to work in their hearts. Seeing soo many men and woman falling before the Lord and making hopefully sincere and committed decisions.
But I must say this past Sunday was a very conficting message. I couldn’t agree with you more that those of us that have been following Jesus for years now, do seem to unintentially become complaisant. We forget sometimes why we are following and just…follow. It made me realize how much more zeal and passion I desire for Christ. Jeff thanks for being obediant with what God placed on your heart to share. My prayer is that through what I’ve heard and learned this past two weeks, that I can apply them and be used by God in BIG ways.
Thanks Jeff.
p.s. sorry for all the typos…im really tired typing this.
Hey Jeff, I’m a young minister from Louisiana in town for a conference. I got to see part 2 of the Illusions series. My friend and I were just blown away at the excellence at which you guys work. I put a lot of effort into spicing up my sermons to capture people’s attention and help them look at a point from different angles. Seeing that I am not alone in these efforts and the effectiveness with which you did these tasks has renewed my energies and creativity in the matter. We were very impressed with the whole church and feel like Buckhead Church and the ministries therin are setting an excellent example for other churches. Thanks for the blessings.
wow … Wow … WOW!!!
The power and majesty of the Gospel magnified glory, honor and praise to the Father in more ways than you know. God used you bro to bless us to the souls of our core! So glad you nixed authoring the book. The horse is now positioned in front of your cart dude! I am so thankful, humbled and proud of what’s at work at our church! Incredible message truth - from rockin’ rappin’ and bangin’ musical opener and creative video by our worshi teams, to (did I dream this) an incredible open invitation at BClast week, to a out-of-the-darkness and step-into-the-light quickening the harden areas of my heart - full of treasure! “The power of the Gospel gaines traction in Truth!” “As long as we live in an illusion, the power of God’s Word and Spirit isn’t allowed to work in you.” “Compare yourself to the equalizing real Standard Bearer … Jesus, and discover the truth of who he He is and the truth of who you are!”
Jeff, I too am a blessed undeserving PK who accepted Jesus at a young age. I’ve been very blessed in my life journey filled with mountain tops, dark valleys and everything in between. I stand conficted and guilty living behind my illusions all the time. These simple verses found in Luke - enlightened by His truth expressed through you - cut my heart deep for better things to come at I believe the most discouraging times in my life walk. And, as I step into the light you’ve shown me in this message, I stand guilty and conficted to be living in my own illusion. (Of course you justly defined that the longer you’ve been a Christian has no bearing or get any special dispensation. We all live in an imperfect world with imperfect hearts on our own. BUT -The more we have been forgiven, the more gratitude we should express to the Lord as this scripture speaks. Simon pronounced a wrong judgement about this sinful woman, but Jesus knew that she now had been saved by faith and was expressing her changed life in outward fashion. Her works showed the reality of her saving faith.
May we never tire or cease not expressing our brokeness, love and compassion for others (inside or outside) with tears and joyful hearts, in times of want or plenty always with grace and forgiveness w/o condemnation … responding enthusiatically - even being gripped and ripped for those whom we may not know.
Happy Thanksgiving & God Bless U!
Hey Joe, Matt, Joe and Jim. Thanks for the encouragement and feedback. I really enjoyed reading your insights. Thanks so much! Jeff
