Get Personal
I am beyond excited about our new series starting Sunday called It’s Personal. I won’t go into details about it other than to say, “Trust me.”
Here’s my challenge. If there’s an unchurched friend, family member, or co-worker that you’ve been thinking about inviting to church, the time has come. This series will be an incredible opportunity for them to see Jesus for who He truly is.
Take a chance. Call ‘em up. Bribe them with lunch or dinner. Be bold. Just ask and see what happens. The worst thing that can possibly happen is that they say no.
The best possible thing that could happen is that their lives and eternities are changed forever.
Get personal,
PS. One of the ways you can invite them is to take advantage of our Evite. A sample of it is below. You can find the actual Evite at our website by going to our home page, www.buckheadchurch.org/home or clicking here: http://www.buckheadchurch.org/evite.

Intersect Again…
I asked Glen Jackson if we could post his small group’s recent experience at Village Atlanta. This is another great story of how Buckhead Church is impacting the community. Glen and his group are just some of the hundreds of you who are impacting people in need. Way to go!!
Jeff
Last Monday, members of our community group served Thanksgiving dinner to two families at Village Atlanta, a transitional housing program for women run by the Atlanta Union Mission. Our group just wrapped up the Life Rules study by Andy. One of the chapters focuses on serving and taking the time to give back to “walk the talk” and reduce our tendencies to be self centered.
We played games with the children (our children really bonded with the Village Atlanta families), we prayed together, shared a meal and heard stories about how God fixes broken hearts. It reminded us that we are all walking wounded and need a savior who told us that He came to serve, not be served.
I am thankful that Buckhead Church has the Intersect Project, that we are partnering with the Atlanta Union Mission and other organizations that need our help, and that we have the opportunity to serve in some really cool ways. Granted we served the meal to the Village Atlanta families, but they really served us with their love and joy even in the midst of tough circumstances. We were richly blessed because of it. I guess that is how to be rich when you get down to it.
Not So Silent Night
This Sunday night is our annual singles Christmas event!! It will be an all-campus, all-skate soiree at North Point this year with Shane & Shane. We are partnering with the Be Rich campaign, so if you haven’t gotten involved yet, this is your opportunity.

Elevation Church
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting Steven Furtick, lead pastor of Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. God is doing an incredible work through Steven and his team. Check out Elevation’s website and see for yourself: www.elevationchurch.org.
Steven came to visit Buckhead Church to see first-hand what God is doing through you and to pick up some ideas on how to reach more and more people for Christ. I thought I would share a couple of thoughts I had during my brief conversation with Steven.
1. Some believe the local church in America is dying. Apparently, no one has informed the folks of Elevation and Buckhead about this. It’s fun and encouraging to see great young leaders like Steven being raised up to push the kingdom forward. (Don’t tell anyone, but I wish I had his leadership skills when I was his age—all of 27 years.)
2. Steven doesn’t have a lot of Sundays off as Elevation’s lead pastor. And on one of those few Sundays off, he decided to drive down I-85 to experience what God is doing through you, Buckhead Church. To me, that’s very humbling. My prayer is that we would never, ever, ever become complacent and lose sight of the influential position God has given Buckhead Church. For some reason, great young leaders like Steven are looking at Buckhead for ideas and encouragement. Every time you serve, lead, and give, you not only are moving the mission of Buckhead Church forward; you are encouraging great leaders like Steven.
In some ways, we could change our slogan: “It’s not about Buckhead Church. It’s about Buckhead, Charlotte, Nashville, Athens, and beyond.”
God is bigger than our wildest dreams and visions. Let’s keep up!

The Top Ten Reasons I’m Thankful for the People of Buckhead Church
Happy Thanksgiving!
I couldn’t let this day pass without offering up a big hearty thank you to our incredible gathering. With apologies to David Letterman, here is my 2007 Top Ten List, in no particular order. I can’t rank one over the other. They’re all great.
The Top Ten Reasons I’m Thankful for the People of Buckhead Church
10. I’m thankful for the Green Shirts. These are the folks that volunteer in our family ministry environments from Waumba to KidStuf. The next time you see a person in a green shirt at Buckhead, give him or her a hug.
9. I’m thankful for the Black Shirts. These are the high-tech folks that push the buttons and direct the cameras and lights in order to produce a worship service for you. Hug a Black Shirt on Sunday.
8. I’m thankful for the guys who place the traffic cones on the road HOURS before many of you get here. Hug a traffic cone, or the guy that put it out.
7. I’m thankful for some of the bravest people in the world: our Middle School volunteers that serve in Xtreme—same with InsideOut, our High School Environment. Hugs all around, along with Krispy Kreme doughnuts and a Facebook account for all.
6. I’m thankful for the friendliness and servant spirit of our Host Team. Not only do they welcome you when you attend, they clean up your spilt coffee long after you’ve gone. Here’s an idea: This Sunday, buy an extra cup of coffee and bring it to one of your Host Team members at the door or in the parking lot as a way of saying thanks. You’ll make his or her day.
5. I’m thankful for the greatest staff in the history of the world. (Can you tell I’m proud of them?) These folks are so talented and gifted. They could be working anywhere. Instead, they’ve decided to invest their gifts and talents here. I’m constantly amazed and humbled to work alongside them.
4. I’m thankful for people who partner with us financially. It’s simple, but true: without your financial support, Buckhead Church would simply be a nice little idea. Without your consistent financial giving, the stories we hear around here would grind to a halt.
3. I’m thankful for the idea of cloning. The reason I’m considering cloning is because of the incredible leaders who serve in vital areas, such as Fusion, Groups, Starting Point, GroupLink, College, Care Ministry, and beyond. We just need more of you. Is cloning unBiblical? I vote for it—if we can clone our leaders.
2. I’m thankful for friends who invite friends to Buckhead Church—especially those friends that are far from God. This is near and dear to God’s heart.
1. I’m thankful that we’ve never forgotten this statement: “It’s not about Buckhead Church. It’s about Buckhead,” and the 300,000 unchurched people in this community.
Happy Thanksgiving!
